I.  Introduction

Knowledge management is the skill set required to obtain, process, refine and prioritize the growing body of information relevant to the practice of medicine. Evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a philosophy and a technique which enhances our understanding of the science of medicine, provides a tool for determining the best evidence we can apply to questions of patient care, and fosters an attitude of life-long learning. EBM is relatively young and constantly evolving. This guide is not intended as a primary or comprehensive text on EBM. Our goal is to provide a pocket reference that can structure your approach to EBM in clinical situations and journal clubs, once you have a grasp of the basics.
