The Grunigen Medical Library concludes its Spring 2008 Instructional Workshop series with three remaining classes:
Pubmed Basics:
Thursday, April 17th, 2008 11:00am-Noon
Instructor: Susan Lessick, MLS AHIP
This workshop provides basic instruction on how to search PubMed, including search techniques, limits, and display options. You will also learn about printing and emailing capabilities as well as availability of online full-text articles. PubMed covers the disciplines of dentistry, medicine, nursing, the health care system and pre-clinical sciences and veterinary medicine.

Pubmed Advanced:

Instructor: Steve Clancy, MLS AHIP
Advanced techniques in using PubMed are discussed in this workshop. Topics include combining searches, nested search strategies, when to use PubMed Clinical Queries and Systematic Reviews and how to save searches on PubMed for future re-runs. PubMed covers the disciplines of dentistry, medicine, nursing, the health care system and pre-clinical sciences and veterinary medicine.

Pharmaceutical and Drug Resources:
Thursday, May 15th, 2008 11:00am-Noon
Instructor: Judy Bube, MLS
This workshop will cover four key online pharmaceutical and drug resources available through the library: MDConsult, MedlinePlus, Micromedix, and Natural Standard. These resources provide essential drug descriptions, indications, contraindications and adverse reactions, and in addition provide current safety notices and FDA approvals. This session will assist users in becoming familiarized with and searching these extensive resources.
