This workshop provides an overview to three of our most popular online library resources for health sciences information. These resources offer detailed information on diseases, treatment and diagnosis. In addition they provide full-text medical books, journal articles, drug information, consumer health topics and medical images. This session will assist the user to become accustomed to and proficient in navigating these standard health sciences resources.

-Accessing and registering PDA’s for the UCI Wireless network
-Recommending popular PDA resources
-Troubleshooting any PDA problems users may have
-Selecting and setting up a PDA
Each PDA Clinic will take place at the Grunigen Medical Library ITC (Information Technology Center) conference room.
Refreshments will be served!
The Grunigen Medical Library's Information Technology Center (ITC) also loans a limited number of PDAs, preloaded with academic applications, to faculty, students, and residents to support mobile computing for education and research. Additionally, technical assistance for PDAs is provided to users by the ITC staff.

Pharmaceutical and Drug Resources

This workshop will cover four key online pharmaceutical and drug resources available through the library: MDConsult, MedlinePlus, Micromedix, and Natural Standard. These resources provide essential drug descriptions, indications, contraindications and adverse reactions, and in addition provide current safety notices and FDA approvals. This session will assist users in becoming familiarized with and searching these extensive resources.
