The Grunigen Medical Library offers instructional workshops in conducting online research, managing bibliographic citations, copyright issues in instruction and research, and more.

  • All workshops listed here are held at the Grunigen Medical Library in Building 22A located at the UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA (unless otherwise noted).
  • The workshops are free and open to all UCI faculty, staff, and students.
  • To register, email gml@uci.edu with your information and the workshop you'd like to attend.
  • Space is limited and seats are given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Title: Free Excel Skills Course
Description: Do Excel spreadsheets strike fear into your heart? Do you cringe at the thought of creating formulas in cells? Do you know you need to learn excel, but have been stalling? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we've got the perfect course for you!

The UCI Libraries at Grunigen Medical Library present a Free Excel Skills Course.

During this hour long class, participants will receive a basic introduction to Microsoft Excel, and at the end should be able to refer to cells by name, understand columns and rows, input data, complete some basic graphing functions, sort alphabetically and numerically, change the manner in which data is displayed, and format tables. Instruction should last about thirty minutes, with the rest of the time for questions.
